Residency Program

Robert Gobbo, MD

Dr. Robert Gobbo graduated from the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine in 1984. After completing his family medicine residency at Santa Monica Hospital (Los Angeles) and a fellowship in obstetrics in 1988, he joined our team. Over the next five years, he dedicated himself to serving patients and led what was then called La Clínica del Cariño as our medical director for several years. In 1993, Dr. Gobbo left Hood River for another opportunity, then returned in 2013 to launch the Providence Hood River Family Medicine Rural Training Program. That same year, he rejoined our staff to serve patients and direct our Hood River residency practice.

Today, Dr. Gobbo cares for One Community Health patients and maintains clinical skills as the hospitalist at Hood River Memorial Hospital. He also provides obstetrics and pediatrics call coverage for One Community Health’s primary care practice. In addition, he is the hospital’s supervising attending as the hospitalist medicine attending, One Community Health’s faculty preceptor for our residents’ practice, and the supervising resident deliveries within our labor and delivery department. Outside of work, Dr. Gobbo enjoys spending time with his two adult daughters, cycling, running, cooking, and gardening.
